sianx. i'm feeling a bit sick now. my throat is like very dry and i have dry cough. i don't what triggered these. let me take a short break from work by posting something up. =)

i've been eating 2 weeks of bread for lunch. i'm actually quite amazed by myself. lolx. i still have one more week and one day to go.. it is high time that i engaged irene's suggestion and make sandwiches myself. it is at least fresher and more healthy. haha.

anyway, i don't know why ubs blocked wordpress and xanga (i think) but blogger isn't. it is kind of weird, isn't it?

i went to yesterday's school orientation. they got so few slides and they wrote that it is going to take 3 hours. it only took one and a half hour yesterday. about 20 minutes was used to wait for everyone to reach. RIGHT. the only important information i gained is how to calculate your score to get first class / second upper class honours. they only considered 9 modules out of 12. if a student get 5 distinction scores out of 12 scores (modules), that person is surely going to receive first class. sounds easy? but it is not easy to score. ha.. actually, someone did posed a critical question yesterday. but he can't speak properly and the teacher who was there did not get his question. =.= it somehow may affect me. however, i choose to ignore it now. it will not affect me if i never fail and i don't plan to fail so, forget about it. oh by the way, i choose to take account related subjects first though my course is banking and finance. haha.

anyway, yesterday was happening too! i mean, after that orientation. As my school is situated near the central, it has buses to zouk and clarke quak. omg~!~! we all know what will happen to me. LOL. Aiya, don't like that la. yesterday's ladies night and i was free to go and had a chance to visit some of the clubs that i've never been before..

Chill~ vs Cheong!

let's chill~ first k.

1st) China one

China one is seriously one place to go after work! as the name states, you can expect oriental decorations in the pub. i really like those homely oriental decorations and it has got many pool tables which you can play for free i think. since this is a pub, there is no entry fee except that ladies need to be 18 and guys 20. i'm not so sure about how much the drink is but i guess it should be affordable. it plays popular pop and rnb songs. i suppose it does have live performances too since i saw musical instruments well arranged on the stage already. overall, one word - Zai!

2nd) Rumor (Fei3 Wen2)

Rumor is a pub cum karaok place. It is situated at the second floor. Although it is a pub, you gotta pay to get in. before 11pm, sunday to thurs, ladies got to pay 15 and have 2 drinks for free. after 11pm, it will be 18 and one free drink if i never remember wrongly. as for the guys, it should be around 20 odds. anyway, i heard it is not so fun.

3) Clinic

there are actually many pubs on the first level whereby you can just walk around clarke quay and peeped into them. boay quay does have a lot too. one of them is Clinic. (i think it can be considered as pub?) it is very intriguing. you don't need to be there to know how it is like. just imagine all the equipments such as wheel chair and blinders etc in the hospitals and dental clinics. anyway, it reminds me of the show pathology. hmm. i heard the drinks are expensive although the ambiance is cool and unusual. clinic can be located easily in clarke quay. i saw it for more than thrice yesterday as i was wandering.

4) Lunar

Lunar is another chinese pub cum a bit of club. for wednesday, ladies get to go in for free and get 3 martini drinks for free. although they say martini drinks, they only limit to lychee martini. how do i know? when i asked one of the bartenders what type of martini drinks they have. that person just ask me go another side and take and they just give you lychee martini. anyway, zouk and arena's lychee martini is like lychee juice. but lunar's and harry's are much much more stronger. beginner drinkers can get drunk by drinking one or two only.

for all people who likes to listen to chinese songs in club, lunar is the place! it played retro songs until 10 plus that night and it had one chinese and one taiwanese singers on the stage. you can ask them to sing any specific song you want. they sing pretty well and you'll enjoy it. =) i'm not so sure if their programme is like this for all nights or only on ladies night. you gotta check it out yourself! as for the interior, lunar is different from china one. lunar has the exclusive and expensive chinese decoration.

to side track a bit, i saw someone ordered the 4.5 litres chiva in lunar. the bottle is damn cute and it is called a 'canon'. my 'new' friend told me that he still had half a bottle of that in st. james. i didn't really take note of it initially when he told me this. but until i see that in lunar, i realise that it is freaking hell a lot. it is already very good if you can drink 1.5 litres of water each day. but, that is 4.5 litres of alcohol. i can't imagine how much you have to pay for that in a club. this brings me to the next question, is he very rich? LOL.

for all the above stated, they may be in chill~ category on ladies night but they may fall into the cheong! category on fri and sat nights.

i think that's about all for the chill~ part.

let's cheong! now.

1) Phuture

ok, usually for ladies night (wednesday), it is also mambo night. it is the same for phuture. BUT, phuture will still play latest RnB songs or maybe older RnB songs. it is the place where you'll start to dance about. it is free for ladies on wednesday night but no house pour (free drinks). the interior for phuture is just like any other club. there is no other special feature except that it is freaking small and you can only walk linearly. Guys will need to pay $33 while ladies pay $25 during other nights. oh ya oh ya. there is something important to take note. if you pay to get into phuture, you can go to zouk too. but this doesn't work vice versa, meaning you can't get into phuture if u pay to go into zouk. the drinks in phuture and zouk are one-for-one before 12am.

2) Zouk

Zouk is a typical club as it plays trance. I don't really like trance though some parts of the music do make me high. However, on wednesday, Zouk is the best place if you want to enjoy mambo! you can see funny dance moves and listen to many retro songs. LOL. people who have citibank card (eg clear card) can have free entrance. i think this limits to first 500 people so you must be early. the card also entitle you one-for-one drink (any type of drink) through out the night. =) ah! if you can, try the watermelon martini. it is nice!

3) Arena

Arena has free (lychee) martini on wednesday. i heard from MS that there is another type of drink but i don't remember what. Same, free for ladies on that night. i'm not sure about guys. what is cool about arena is that, they have live bands and performances. those singers sing well! i guess they're from america? it is really very entertaining. i don't mind going there for awhile after school and catch the last bus home. ^^ the whole layout and feeling is a bit like the old beijing clubs although the dance floor is not as big as those we always see in the shows. actually, arena should fall into the chill~ category as it is very relaxing on that night (before 12am).

4) Gotham

this is really an old-looking club. i went there quite (too) early and it was playing relaxing jazz songs. at that point of time, there are a handful groups of people only. i think gotham is small because it is occupied by several big rectangle tables. i don't know why there are big tables. the tables are big enough for 7 or 8 course dinner. it has a stage too. the dance floor is small. as usual, free for ladies on wednesday night. house pour only starts on 12 am and ends at 1.30 am i think.

5) MOS

how can i forget about MOS? i like the name MOS because of its aggressiveness. to call itself a ministry (a.k.a. government), it must be impressive. indeed, MOS is large in scale. there are two dance floors. the second storey one is a retro dance floor. the first storey's dance floor has a circular platform in the middle. i'm actually quite scare of the platform, people can fall easily. anyway, i heard usually only gays will go up there. hmm... haha. oh well.. anyway, i think the seats there should be enough for the clubbers. for drinks wise, mos has a 'monopoly's money' system. i suppose that will help you to save up.

however, mos is going to close down soon because it did not portray a good image as what it is supposed to have. you know why? the clubbers (mainly malays) have been creating trouble (fights) there. in addition, i think it is not earning. there are some people do not like to go mos because of the fights. this actually quite true. there are very few people on that night when i went even though it is already 11pm. at this time, phuture should be at the state of full house. actually, the main purpose of me to club hop is to pay mos a visit as i heard it'll be closing down. but i think i spent more time in lunar and arena. OOPS. lolx.

6) DXO

last but not least, dxo is the first club i had been to. no particular comment for it because.. long story. =)

I hope that i've provided some useful infomation about clubs.. it is quite fun to go explore and write about them. heehee..

some other clubs / pubs that i want to go and find out will be:
